Dear Parents,
Today we sent home two very important packets of parent information from Mohican Outdoor School. The first packet has general information such as location, phone numbers, a packing list, and policies specific to attending Mohican Outdoor School. The second packet contains registration, insurance, and medical forms that must be filled out and returned to us by April 27. Without these completed forms your child will be prohibited that from attending Mohican Outdoor School.

New London Middle School has taken on a new slogan; WE ROAR. WE ROAR is an acronym for our new series of affirmation statements. I am WILLING. I am ENGAGED. I am RESPONSIBLE. I am ORIGINAL. I am AWARE. I am READY. In order to develop our school culture into one of proactive positive change and constant growth, we realized that our students and staff needed to have clear cut goals and expectations set. Success in the classroom, improved student relationships and educational leadership all rely on the fact that everyone involved is willing to grow, engaged in their learning and jobs, responsible for their own actions and consequences, strong enough to be an original, aware of what is expected of them and ready to lead and help those around you. Too often we tell our students what not to do instead of giving them positive options to take. This slogan and vision is meant to increase everyone in the middle school’s awareness that they have the power to create the school and the experiences that they want to have. We do not have control over our past, but every decision we make will alter our future.
Our new Student of the Month award recipients will be chosen based upon how well they represent these ideals. We want to recognize our students who embody the beliefs that positive choices lead to positive results, respecting oneself will lead to respecting each other and one’s actions speak louder than their words. At every school board meeting, we will be honoring one student from each grade level. Please help us celebrate these students and encourage others to meet these expectations. Let us all make WE ROAR a part of our tradition of excellence.

This February the Paw Pride will release their interview with someone from CNN news. GUESS WHO! That’s right, New London’s own Robin Meade. Paw Pride reporters Danielle Carruthers and Lexi Yoder have been fortunate to get an interview with the former Miss Ohio. As a 1987 graduate of New London, Robin was secretary of her class. Robin now lives in Atlanta with her husband Tim Yeager. Robin has had many interesting accomplishments throughout her career and had many amazing stories. Numerous staff and citizens of New London have wonderful stories they will also share about this prominent person from our hometown. STAY TUNED COMING IN A FEW WEEKS!
